Avoiding Scams
With increasing efforts by predatory college loans scammers, parents and students need to do their part to remain alert and cautious when seeking financial aid for their students to attend college.
College graduates are setting off into the workforce with huge amounts of debt from student loans, in many cases to the tune of six digits and that’s for the legitimate funding sources. For those families duped by unscrupulous organizations, it can be worse.
The number one method of avoiding college loan scams is to do research into all potential funding sources and to read the fine print before signing or agreeing to commit to anything. Students and parents should also beware offers that require any advanced payment or any guarantees that sound too good to be true.
