State of Emergency

Education researchers and administrators have clearly recognized the importance of obtaining a college education. In fact, with the ever-growing global demand for qualified workers, having a college degree and the skills to support it has become somewhat of a requirement for landing a good career position.Today’s job market is very competitive and considering that 90% of the careers projected to have the fastest growth in the next 10 years require candidates with college degrees or certification, many individuals are enrolling in both traditional campus or online college degree programs.

The United States is rapidly approaching a critical condition with approximately 60% of adults that do not possess a college education or comparable professional training. The United States is falling behind other industrialized countries in education. Studies have found that in New York City for example, there is a 50% dropout rate. Similar figures exist in other cities and towns across the country.

The FAFSA4caster

The Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education announced the creation of a useful online tool called the FAFSA4caster. The FAFSA4caster was designed to help streamline the often arduous and confusing task endured by college-bound students and their parents filling out and submitting the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to the federal government. The FAFSA4caster has been a great time saving asset to both the Department of Education and families of college students. The FAFSA4caster:

* Instantly calculates a student’s eligibility for federal student aid, including grants,

* Reduces the time it will take to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and

* Simplifies the financial aid process for students and families.
