How to Have a Winning Interview

If you have just recently earned your college degree, you are ready to hit the working world. You have your best clothes picked out, your resume in hand and are ready to start interviewing for jobs.

One of the first questions you can expect to be asked by a prospective employer is to describe yourself. You should be prepared for this ahead of time so that you do not hesitate when replying. Be sure not to tell them what they already know.

They do not want you to state your name and age, etc but rather are hoping that you will offer them some information about yourself that shows your character and lets them know how motivated you are.

It is best to state your strengths. Tell them what you are good at but be sure also to state any weaknesses you may have. If you appear to be arrogant and cocky, you could very well kill any chances you have of landing the job.

Be honest. Do not brag about how much you can do for their company. Instead, tell them what your skills are and add that you are very confident in your abilities and that you are a fast learner.

Be yourself and give it your best shot. If you do not get a job offer right away, follow up with your interviewer or the HR department. Learn from each interview. Ask what other skills or qualifications would make you the ideal candidate for the position and be sure to add them to your repertoire of skills and your resume.
