How to Survive and Thrive Your Freshman Year and Beyond

High school and college differ greatly. It does not matter too much what you did in high school because once you get into college you are starting with a clean slate.

You will find yourself with a lot of freedom and cultural differences once you set foot on the college campus for the first time.
It is a fact that one in every four college students drops out before finishing their sophomore year and nearly half of all freshmen either drop out or obtain their education somewhere else.

If you wish to succeed in college you should be sure to attend all orientations so that you get a feel for college life. Be sure to get to know your roommates as well as others in your dorm. These people are going through exactly what you are going through so if you become friends and bond with them you will have each other to lean on in tough times.

Find the perfect place to study. Forget about studying in your dorm room. There will be far too many distractions. Consider checking out the campus library and find a quiet corner table that you can use to do your school work.

Although it may sound obvious, you should go to class. It will be tempting for you to sleep in and skip class on rough days but you will only be hurting yourself if you fall into this type of pattern. Stay focused on the reason you are attending college - your future.
