National SMART Grant
As an additional incentive for college students to attend and complete college degree programs in the areas or math and science, a new program called the National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (National SMART grant) was created.
With rapidly growing global demand for qualified math and science graduates and professionals, the creation of this program was designed to help the United States stay competitive in the world market by encouraging students to pursue careers in these high-demand fields.
Under the grant, third and fourth year undergraduate students are eligible to receive up to a $4,000 award per year.
