Reasons Why Students Change Majors

In college, there are various reasons why students may change majors. One of these reasons is that the student may not have any initial idea on which degree program they want to take once entering college.

According to the Director of Career Services at Central Michigan University, approximately half of the entire student population enrolled at the school has no idea at first on which careers they want to have. As a result, these students are likely to change majors during the course of their stay at the college or university.

Researchers have discovered that approximately 80 percent of high school students are still unsure which course or major to enroll in during college.

With the wide variety of choices available, students often discover themselves at a crossroad, especially on which subjects to choose as majors. It is fortunate that most high schools and colleges have guidance counselors to help students make this very important decision
