The Government Needs Cyber Experts

The United State’s federal agencies are severely short of computer specialists as a growing number of well-coordinated cyber attacks against the U.S. government greatly risks the country’s security.

A series of cyber attacks this month shout down some U.S. government web sites.

Cyber workers are needed but the recruiting of these workers is hindered by a burdensome hiring process and by the lack of certification standards as well as by a lack of training.

It is actually unknown how many cyber workers there are in the United States because employees are classified so differently by agencies. The Pentagon says that it has over 90,000 workers working in cyber security. The civilian cyber security work force is estimated to be between 35,000 to 45,000. Most of these workers will most definitely have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree at minimum.

Obama recently said that cyber security is a top priority but so far the White House has been unable to fill its new cyber coordinator position and this job is regarded as critical.

For students getting ready to graduate college with a degree in Computer Science or similar may want to consider applying with the Gov’t. for a job.
